With whom do we work?
SWPANSAR is committed to being a call out team for Law Enforcement, Fire Services, National Resource authorities, and Emergency Management Agencies. We can be called out as a search team, a K9 search team, and/or an emotional first aid response team.
Although we can operate in any state, our primary areas of response are:
- Lower Alabama
- Florida Panhandle
- Coastal Mississippi
What happens when a call is made?
When a call is made to SWPANSAR, our dispatch team will review the mission requirements. If we have resources (human searchers, K9's, or EFA responders) that can be of assistance, the dispatch team will put all of the necessary phone calls and paperwork in motion to coordinate callouts.
The SWPANSAR team has been trained in the Incident Command System (ICS) protocol as described in the National Incident Management System (NIMS) established by the Department of Homeland Security. NIMS was developed so responders from different jurisdictions and disciplines can work together better to respond to natural disasters and emergencies. Our team will put in place the search strategy, missions, and hierarchy of teams to meet the requirements for each callout.
