 Who are we? Minimize

Welcome to the Southwest Panhandle Search and Rescue K-9/EFA Team website!

Our team was formed in January 2008 when the members came together to provide a regional K-9 unit.  We added the emotional first aid team to help families deal with the emotional stress and grief processes that are associated with having a loved one go missing.  We are a diverse group of individuals with a combined 48 years of experience that include nationally certified searchers, certified emotional first aid responders, skilled search planners, and K-9 units trained in the following three disciplines:
  • air scenting (or area search)
  • trailing
  • human remains detection on land and water

We train and certify our K-9's to the highest national standards for search and rescue.  We require our members to be nationally certified as Search and Rescue Technicians.  We study missing persons behavior, scent theory, crime scene preservation and cross train in search management to make our team a valuable professional asset on any search.

We make ourselves available to law enforcement as well as fire departments. We are also a recognized resource by many Emergency Management Agencies along the Gulf Coast to respond to searches and humanitarian relief efforts in the case of a disaster or hurricane. We can and do work with other search and rescue teams where we can provide unique K-9's and/or emotional first aid responders or to supplement their exisitng team with our search capabilities.  All of our services are offered at NO CHARGE.

It has been a busy year.  This year alone our team has been instrumental in 9 recoveries and 3 live finds.  Our callouts are always a team effort between the agencies involved.  We have also assisted law enforcement in many cold cases (no case is too old to work)
.

"Our K-9 teams are a priceless resource when the unthinkable happens and a loved one goes missing."

We are a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization and we are totally reliant on contributions from the public, corporations, and foundations.  We receive no funding from United Way nor any governmental agencies.  We are available 24/7 and 365 days a year.  For help or questions, please call one of the following numbers:
